fireworks viewing spot

Postby lovahgrrl » Thu Jun 28, 2007 2:08 pm

Does anyone know of good places to watch the fireworks - places not in or near the parks and the crowds?

I'd like to take my young son to see fireworks (both those from Warner Park and Elver Park) but not deal with going into the chaos. I've seen some people watching Rhythm and Booms near the airport. Any other suggestions?

thanks.

A reasonable question, but here's the problem: nobody's going to publish their favorite "private" viewing spot.

A non-secret location for watching the airborne part of the Warner show is Tenney Park. You can even walk out on the breakwater with your kids, which is fun in itself. If you have to go west down Gorham after the show ends, you can usually leave quickly enough to beat the traffic.

James Madison Park isn't bad. Easy in, easy out and you get to see the fireworks in micro-vision.

Monona Terrace is a great place to watch fireworks on the 4th. You're not always sure which display corresponds with which outlying community, but it's pretty cool to see the entire south-facing horizon dotted with pretty explosions.
