Irrefutable proof that The Pack is Back

Postby nevermore » Fri Jan 11, 2008 11:43 am

They've returned.

What are "they"? Car flags. Remember 1997? Those Packer World Champions flags with the beads/Mardi Gras design were everywhere. And they stayed on for years as they got ratty and slush-and-exhaust-stained. Fortunately, 9/11 happened and that gave everybody an excuse to go to WalMart and replace them with the plastic Chinese-made American car flags - until they got ratty and slush-and-exhaust-stained.

Yesterday, in the parking lot of the Northside TownCenter, I saw a car with a brand spanking new Packer car flag. I expect the rest of you to follow suit.

Oh, and another thing, I'm breaking the next computer that forwards me that GoPackGo Powerpoint presentation. Yeah, it was funny the first 10 times I got it. Yeah, Soldier Field's going to be empty tomorrow. Yeah, Kyle Orton's blowing somebody in the back of a limo. HaHa. Now stop it.

Apparently that hasn't made its way out here yet. Thankfully.

You know, I'd feel a lot more comfortable about tomorrow's game if nevermore went on the record to extoll the virtues of the Seahawks. You know, just to pay the insurance, so to speak.

No sightings in the TC yet (which is about 25-30% out/closeted Packer backers).

Oh right, right...

I did say The Pack is Back - but they certainly ain't sticking around.

Shaun Alexander? Unstoppable.

Matt Hasselbeck? Scary accurate.

The Seahawk secondary? They'll be sucking up Favre's passes like a roll of Brawny on a spilled beer.

Holmgren? I don't consider it Vince Lombardi Trophy anymore - it's the Michael George Holmgren Trophy. Marilyn vos Savant is jealous of the genius that is Mike Holmgren. I shudder to think what he has planned for us tomorrow.

And don't get me started about the rest of the team. Even Ryan Plackemeier scares the shit out of me. And forget about the weather. It was clearly proven a couple weeks back that without a doubt the Green Bay Packers are NOT a cold-weather team.

Green Bay is just going to be a speed bump on the way to Phoenix for Seattle. Seahawks by 21. Book it.

Well - as it turned out, we could have spotted Seattle that 21 points (and almost did) and still have won going away.

Can't say enough about the offensive line and the defensive backfield - they were the keys to the win, under extremely adverse conditions.

Some of Holmgren's expressions were priceless - The Walrus in Winter.

While obviously I'm pulling for the Giants tomorrow, there's a part of me that wants a return to Dallas for the NFC Championship Game. After all, what could better suit the fairy-tale script that has been this Packer season than for Favre to finally get his first win in Dallas on the threshold of Super Bowl number three?

I'm getting a little verklempt just thinking about it...

If you are sick of the power point thing I thought you might appreciate this one, It says a lot about the Packers/Bears rivalry...

A man goes to the Chicago Bear ticket office and inquires about purchasing
play-off tickets. The ticket teller replies that there weren't any tickets
for sale because the Bears did not make it to the play-offs.

The following day the same man goes to the Chicago Bear ticket office and
inquires about purchasing Bear play-off tickets. The ticket teller politely
replies that there weren't any tickets for sale because the Bears did not
make it to the play-offs.

This goes on for an entire week. The man goes to the Bear ticket office
inquiring about play-off tickets and the teller says none are for sale
because the Bears did not make it to the play-offs.

Another week of this goes by and the man still is asking the ticket teller
about Bear play-off tickets. Finally the ticket teller in a loud voice
says, I'VE TOLD YOU FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS THERE WERE NOT ANY TICKETS
AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE BEARS DID NOT MAKE THE PLAY-OFFS.

The man replied....

"I know." I drive all the way from Green Bay just to hear you say that!

A little bear cub goes to court because he wants to leave home because his parents beat him.

The judge asks the little bear why he does not want to stay with his father.

The little bear says that his dad beats him.

The judge asks the little bear why he does not want to stay with his mother.

The little bears says that his mom beats him too.

The judge asks the little bear if he has any relatives to stay with, but he has none.

The little bear then asks the judge "Can I stay with the Chicago bears....they never beat anyone?!"
