How many double plays will Zaun hit into this season?

Seriously. I thought this was a pretty inexplicable signing before the season. Right now it's making the Franklin Stubbs signing look positively Einsteinian.

He can't call a game worth crap, he can't throw out your grandma, he can't find the ball after he lets it bounce way and he can't hit anything except double play balls. What a joke.

I hope everyone who complained about Jason Kendall's weak hitting last year is enjoying Zaun.

Zaun is a bum, but you'd rather have Kendall for 2 years and $6 million?

yes. His roadkill face was the only thing interesting enough to keep me going through some of the duller games. Plus his hits were few but they were timely.

Kendall at least can call/catch a game. And, as ridiculous as it is, he's actually YOUNGER than Zaun.

So, yeah, I'd rather have Kendall at .200 than Zaun, even if he does right the ship with the bat (which, I would guess he will to a certain extent). I consider it a very bad sign that the pitchers are already calling out Zaun's pitch selection in the press a week into the season.

At least Kendall could call a game.

Maybe the Brewers knew about this whole weird love triangle with Rod Stewart's kid and Kendall's wife, plus his supposed adderall use.

I'd rather have had the Brewers get someone besides Zaun. I can't believe he was the best starting catcher option available.

I don't disagree with that; the problem is, basically every team in the majors is starving for catching. There are good prospects in the minors, and the Brewers might be using Zaun on a one-year contract as a bridge to the young talent.

Kansas City will be paying Kendall $3.75 million in 2011. Not including arbitration-eligible players like Fielder(he'll get a raise) and Cory Hart(no chance he's tendered next year, he's not worth the $4.8 million he's getting this year), that would make Kendall the 4th highest paid Brewer next year. No thank you.

Another reason we should have kept Kendall:

Have you ever seen Zaun-O's? Zaun-Flakes?

Every time I heard something on the radio about the Zaun signing, I really thought they were saying that the Brewers had signed Gregg Vaughn. That would have surprised me for a number of reasons.

Well, with your bad quad, Gregg, you shouldn't be throwing anyone.

Hey, do you Brewers fans feel anything significant changed/happened to your team when the switch was made to the NL? I am a Twins fan, but with memories of the old AL Central. I have my thoughts, but I'd rather see responses from those on this side of the Curtain first.

That is a good answer. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of, do you feel your team is more or less competitive back in the NL, rather than the previous decades in the AL.

Just trying my best to keep baseball vague.

I don't think switching leagues had the same effect as the overall changes in baseball and the Brewers change in ownership.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Sadly, nothing of substance to offer. Not a huge fan. I still enjoy watching/listening to games, but I think it's more nostalgia than anything. Takes me back to afternoons in the bleachers at County Stadium...

Losing Jason Kendall behind the plate will cost them more games this year than Zaun's bat will ever make up for. Kendall is one of the best defensive catchers, ever.
