The same near-miss thing has happened to me in the rail corridor segment of the bike path. I now stop my car at the path intersection and TURN ON MY FOUR-WAYS before I proceed. I don't know what more I can do to avoid them -- these people are crazy.

Also, Meade - you are a Nanny Statist. Giving people citations for nonviolent, victimless behaviors that you don't approve of (giving tickets to cyclists who aren't properly equipped) is Nannying. The same standard applies to cars, of course.

Damn, Arturo! Finally, Meade meets his match.

Carry on, both of you. I'll watch.

Uh, it was the lack of regulation that allowed the financial industry to crumble.

right - I was agreeing with you.

long version: the talking points from the right is that over-regulation hurts the economy, but subsidies to 'job creators' is good for the economy. And there is some element of truth there, which the Republicans abuse to no end.

The biking industry is a boon to the economy of Wisconsin. Over-regulation (too many bike laws) might have a negative effect on the economy. Government support of the biking industry (e.g. by putting in lighting to make biking safer) might enhance that economy.

On the other, if you carry these simple talking points too, you end up with the mess caused by the financial services industry.
