yes!!! Arkansas to hire Bret Bielema

Badgers, Packers, Mallards. Paddling, running, golfing. And bikes!

This smells bad. Any chance we'll be hearing about a microwaved canary, dead woman or live boy?

Tucker sounds good. So might Chryst. How about Bevell?

I'm guessing doofus was scart that he was going to make history as the only one to lose three Rose Bowls in a row. That would explain the timing. Let's hope that with him out of the way, Bucky will be inspired to heroic levels leading to victory in Pasadena. And Nedly, if it's some kind of a sexual indiscretion that hastened his departure, it most likely involves a farm animal or incest. Or something else acceptable in Arkansas like Klan membership or dog fighting.

Prolly not considering his wife is about 20 years younger than him.

I'm amazed at what a big splash this story is making in Madison news.

That's fine. At least he won't run out the clock so the offense has no chance to score a touchdown before halftime like Bielema did against TCU.

I can't wait to see how he does at Arkansas.

The line on the game is still Stanford by 7. Apparently, the people who get paid to make predictions don't think much of Bielema's departure.

If the Badgers win the Rose Bowl, will that make Bielema look foolish? Not for leaving so much as for being unable to win the game and watching someone else coach his 5 loss team to a Rose Bowl victory?

Did this prompt anyone else to experience a brief flashback to the movie Space Cowboys?

No. Could you explain the similarities or are we pulling a Mad Howler?

Alvarez will probably coach the game from a luxury box while a couple of freshman carry his statue back and forth along the sidelines.

I always felt Barry hired Bielema because Barry felt assured Bielema would do nothing to diminish Barry's legacy. Barry now has a puncher's chance of having his legacy augmented because of Bielema. That really was a good hire, for Barry.

The practice of head coaches changing jobs before the glorious, final game stinks to low heaven. The coach spends the whole year building a team-first concept, players sacrifice in many ways and build their lives around the great cause. I'm not being critical, it is fun to be on a journey with teammates.

Think of all the players and coaches ending media interviews with the BB-inspired catchphrase, "On Wisconsin."

Part of the fun of being a fan is believing in the uu-rah-rah, go State! spirit. Maybe we know it's a bit artificial, but we don't want the mythology shattered, like Lucy pulling away the football.

All this said, I hardly blame BB. He didn't invent the system. Hiring schools demand that the new coach gets started on recruiting in December. Only legendary coaches can fight it, and BB is no legend, he's a rising young coach.

Oh ya, the fans who think BB was not a good coach are foolish.

Interesting thought. How about the statue on the sideline wearing a headset? Alvarez in his skybox.
