Emphasis mine. ESPN/Disney purchased those rights. It was THEIR decision. And yes, it was a monetary one which is fine.
As I said, ESPN(or some other site) could charge me per game or whatever and then that money can offset costs towards the cable companies.

It's not cable, but more like cable lite. The nice part is that it offers you DVR service. I'll be curious to see, as this expands to more markets, if they can expand their channel base.
