Welcome Back, Carter

Postby Ned Flanders » Tue Jun 23, 2009 10:22 am

Spiraling unemployment, a stagnant economy, conducting foreign policy from a position of weakness especially vis a vis Iran, goofy solar power/electric car/turn off the lights energy "policy"....

The LA Times has caught wind of the coming "malaise":

"Here's the scary thing for the new White House: the terrifying words "Jimmy Carter" have started appearing in print and on the air, recalling the ex-Georgia governor's ineptness and....

...apparent powerlessness in handling his Iranian (hostage) issues in the late 1970s. That impression lead to 12 years of Reagan-Bush Republican White Houses

Just sayin'.

Maybe Obama should sell arms to Iran in exchange for hostages.

The only thing the Obama administration has in common with the Carter administration is that they too follow years of a failed and corrupt Republican regime.

Pattern:
Republican spends on useless military apparatus, breaks international laws and covers it up, destroys the middle class.

Republican can't keep a campaign promise when he gets into office gets, starts a war his ass kicked 4 years later by a Democrat.

Democrat takes a massive deficit and turns it into a surplus. America prospers. Democrat gets a BJ.

Republican steals election, takes ofice and immediately thinks its opposite day. Starts tearing down everything his predecessor did economically and destroys the surplus, ignores briefings on terror plots, destroys the middle class, commits countless war crimes, starts two wars threatens two more. Leaves the country in the worst condition since the 30's.

Democrat gets elected to clean up the mess left by the Republican.

QUIT CONTRADICTING NED!

Or he'll have to post ANOTHER opinion piece by a conservative blogger as indisputable evidence... of... something.

Just think what things would be like today if we had gone ahead with Carter's solar energy tax breaks and expanded solar technology for the last 20 years instead of Reagan and Republicans stopping all this and even so far as removing solar panels from the White House.

Just imagine where GM would be today if they had kept their electric car first developed in the '80's and expanded that technology for the past 20 years.

And wonder if you will where our country would be today if we had an energy policy not based on oil, coal, and waste / throw-away as much as you can.

What a nightmare that would be.

Food for thought from today's Wall Street Journal:

"The Obama administration appears to be trying to couch its calls for self-improvement not so much in moral terms, as President Carter did, but in terms of national self-interest."
