What's wrong with the GOP, anyway?

Races for the Senate, U.S. House, etc. and other issues of national importance.

Love platform item #6: Self-sufficient families, founded on the traditional marriage of a natural man and a natural woman.

Proven not to work.

And, since there is no discussion of prevention of STIs, that position puts the health of all affected students at risk.

You mean it's not enough that he makes her feel like a natural woman?

SUMMARY:
Federal support of abstinence-only as an approach to adolescent sexuality education is of much concern due to medical inaccuracies, lack of effectiveness, and the withholding and distorting of health information

Key word: Federal.

Key word: Federal.

Key word: Ineffective.

That's the interesting thing about science: what works, works, and what doesn't work, doesn't work, regardless of who funds it.

Thanks. I can't make any sense at all out of why "federal" would be important. Either a program helps reduce teen pregnancies and STDs or it doesn't, and either it teaches scientifically accurate reproductive information or it doesn't. Why do they care who pays?

I would agree crappy sex education is "a concern."

Why would it matter which level of government pays for it?

It's like the health insurance mandate. At a State level it's responsible and fiscally sound due to the unique circumstances of that state, like people not having health insurance and sticking the insured with the bills for their ER visits. Something that only happens in MA. At a Federal level that same policy is death panels, communism, the complete destruction of America and the freedom it enjoys. At a Federal level abstinence is ineffective, even worse than no sexual education at all but in Texas, due to the unique circumstances of that state, it's the only thing that should be taught.

Oh.

Maybe the people in Texas are infertile. That could be it.

Thanks.

Sen. Scott Brown is outraged, everyone. Do you realize they let welfare recipients register to vote in Massachusetts? There are even federal laws which cause them to be given voter registration forms when they sign up for welfare. And, if there is a mistake, and, say, they aren't provided those registration forms, the courts will be coerced into rectifying that mistake?

Of course, the daughter of Brown's opponent, Elizabeth Warren, is conveniently the head of one of the voters' rights groups (really, another nefarious community organizer?) contracted to deliver voter registration forms to those people.

Do I need to say more? It is obvious what is going on here.

(Do you think Sen. Brown has a staffer who tried to explain the situation, pointing out that this is federal law, etc., and Brown raged him/her down, or rather his staff knows better than to miss the opportunity to strike a chord with those potential voters who feel deep down that welfare recipients should not be voting?)

That is outrageous. Its pretty clear the GOP is trying to bring back feudalism. Why should we let these lazy moochers have a say? Did King Louis take a vote every time he collected taxes?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Scott. If the Romney/Ryan ticket wins in November, the poor will be so busy working three and four jobs to pay for more tax cuts for the rich, they won't have time to vote.

from the article, Scott says:
It means that I’m going to have to work that much harder to get out my pro-jobs, pro-free enterprise message.

So he's admitting few of the recipients of the voter-registration forms the court made Massachusetts send out would vote for him or his message, and it's OK to take steps to minimize their participation at the polls? And being a welfare recipient automatically makes you anti-jobs and anti-free enterprise? And people ought to be systematically discouraged from voting when their assumed political beliefs don't fit a certain pattern?

Democracy, Scott. Read up on it.

Side question: Why do all these Republican politicians look the same, with a long face, big square jaw, full head of hair, etc? Romney, Brown, Hovde, Ryan... (fill it in and give me ten more, no problem)
