Why do you think this?

Because of the limited notion of government as espoused by libertarians. Are you denying that? You certainly have advocated such beliefs on this very forum.

Look at what you wrote. I don't claim that "anything the government does" outside of my conception of what is proper should be called "socialism". Words have specific meanings that can be used to communicate ideas more subtle and complex than, "I HATE THAT".

Libertarians live in a black and white world. If it ain't freedom, it must be socialism. They see no gray. You exemplify that position.

Do you deny what you have previously posted? Don't be so disingenuous.

You need to get another two-dollar word - "disingenuous" appears 41 times in your post record!

While you're searching, check my posts for "socialism". It does appear many times, but the vast majority are either in the title of the thread, or in a quote from someone else, to which I reply with an argument against drawing a hard-line definition of what is and is not socialism. I have very strong opinions on certain issues, but that hardly means that my world is black and white.

OK, I'd love to hear your definition of socialism. Throw in your take on the meaning of libertarianism, if you may.

My intent was never to provide a lecture on socialism, only to defend myself from your attacks which assume that I think socialism is a simplistic "anything other than what I want", and I've won that argument.

jman, you are injecting a lot of meaning into just a few words (in that thread too). If my quote is taken alone and out of context, I see your point, but I was replying to another post in regard to the Clint Eastwood commercial in which the "we" and "they" were already defined by the context of the discussion. I've already conceded that "We's" are entirely possible, even necessary, but that doesn't invalidate the idea that all "We's" are composed of individuals. If you want to call that a black/white absolutist distinction, then you win.

I have no interest in "winning".
My intention was to draw attention to one case in which your words appear, at least, absolutist in nature. By making such statements, you reinforce the stereotype presented by Hank, in my opinion.

Top? Seems like more of a "bottom" to me.
