Does anyone really believe Obama will win reelection?

Postby Meade » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:17 pm

I realize he's leading (barely) in the polls at the moment. But come on - the economy, the Wisconsin recall, the SCOTUS decision today against SEIU - everything seems to be going against him.

Intrade has him up 54% to 42%. So there is that.

But the election is more than 3 months away. Plenty of time. Still, does anyone really believe, with confidence, that he will win?

I don't.

I am hoping that he does (unless something dramatic happens at the Repo convention)

I doubt he will. He is in far more serious trouble than anyone admits. Not just the polls. Look at the money. He is spending more than he is taking in. His big bundlers are saying that they are sitting this one out. Even the foreign credit card donations are not coming through like before. The NC Demmies are in a shambles, there does not seem to be enough to pay for the convention so that looks like it may be a fiasco.

And finally many Demmy pols are saying "Obama? Who? Yeah the name sounds familiar but I don't think I actually know him." Can you imagine what it takes to keep a state governor away from a national convention? Yet two have announced that they have to wash their hair that week or something. That has to hurt.

And he is even losing the media.

I even offered to bet $5 that he would not even be a candidate in November. That he will withdraw.

Nobody here had enough confidence to take my money.

My thinking is that he is all about the O. If he sees himself in a hopeless position, rather than lose, he will withdraw.

He'll have some good excuse. Perhaps he is ill. Perhaps he wants to spend some more time with his family. Perhaps the rumors are true, he is gay (NTTATWWT) and decides that he wants to come out of the closet.

My bet offer still stands, just in case anyone wants to take me up on it.

I put my Intrade money down on Romney to win. And I don't gamble.

If we're stuck with more than 40 Republicans in the Senate it's not really going to matter. We'll have four years of obstruction and gridlock. I'd almost prefer you idiots had to reap what you sow. Maybe a few of you would get your heads out of your asses long enough to realize what you've done. Obama can win because Mitt is a weak candidate.

Don't forget the president is elected by the electoral college, not the popular vote.

Not that I think it's a good system, but it's still there.

And it gave us W over Gore-- with a little assist from the bought-and-paid-for rightwing nutcake cabal on the Supreme Court.

When gas prices were approaching four bucks a gallon, Republicans tried to convince the voting population that it was Obama's fault. Now I notice the price is dropping. I've seen gas under $3.40 a gallon and it is predicted to fall under three bucks by the end of summer. Will those Obama haters give him credit for that?

Henry, it doesn't really matter at this point. The damage has already been done. The economy took a hit.
