We'll skip the government middle man.
The economy has always operated the best when there's a strong low and middle class. Why? Because these people actually spend the money when they have it because they need things. This creates demand, and that creates more jobs and a broader tax base, which ultimately lowers your taxes and/or creates surpluses (remember the Clinton/Gore economy?).
When you redistribute all the wealth to the top by penalizing, or punishing the lower classes, you're ultimately ensuring that any recovery is slow, if at all.
So to answer your question, YES, when you steal from the low and middle class via a wage system and tax code that favors the top, YOU benefited at someone else's expense, Meade. NOT the reverse psychology the GOP and you regurgitate daily. You are what you accuse others of and apparently aren't even aware of it.
