97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

Races for the Senate, U.S. House, etc. and other issues of national importance.

Sandi, John, and now Rich.

None of them even acknowledge that the Coca Cola corporation has not only accepted the existence of global warming but has made it part of its global business plan. That article's been out over a week, and none of the deniers has gone to the trouble of denying it.

Too inconvenient to notice, I guess.

Correction to Stella Guru:

You have made an error of attribution - Rich Schultz did not say that. He copied and pasted his entire post; there are quotations around the entire text.

Other than to prove to us that he can read, I'm not sure what purpose Rich Schultz's post was intended to serve. Mr. Steyn will have his moment in court, and our judicial system can figure out who's lying. Taking Mr. Steyn's word that he's not the one lying seems, at best, premature...but then, I'm not Rich Schultz, who apparently believes everything he reads.

Perhaps Mr. Schultz can provide his e-mail address, as I have a relative in Nigeria who needs to transfer a vast sum of money and only needs Rich's bank account and password to make this happen.

The fact that Mr. Steyn has chosen to represent himself is, however, extraordinarily curious to those of us who have a clue about how the judicial system actually works, and does not leave one hopeful that Mr. Steyn's braggadocio is anything but the proverbial tale told by an idiot, etc.

As usual, the English language slips from the grasp of Ned's flop-sweating hands.

Are you sure you aren't the Nigerian email scammer, Ned? No, scratch that - the text of the average Nigerian email scam would mark a quantum leap in rhetorical competence from Ned's subliterate gibbering.

Well, there's Rich's response. Coca Cola's business plan is bad because a truck with a coca cola logo on it tipped over in the snow somewhere.

Coca Cola is one corporation among many. This means there's a consensus among the corporations that global warming is a hoax, and only ONE of them thinks otherwise. We should listen to the corporations who subscribe to the corporate consensus, ignoring the ones who don't, because consensus is a good thing when it involves corporations.

Consensus among scientists isn't science. It's the brave scientists who AREN'T in that consensus we should listen to.

Consensus among corporations indicates corporations whose trucks never turn over.

At least, that's what I think his response is. Sometimes he can only communicate with images.

Nope. Michael Mann, the man who has been exonerated of any wrongdoing via multiple independent invetsigations. These facts have been presented to you on several occasions, you just choose to stick with the wrong conclusion you prematurely came to based on the braying buffoonery of your preferred news sources.

Yeah and OJ's innocent to. The "independent" jury said so.

Braying indeed.

Yes, because a single jury in a racially charged court case is exactly comparable to EIGHT completely different committees all arriving at the same conclusion. Please look over the list of independent bodies and tell me why none of them should be trusted. I'll allow one rebuttal in gif form.

Pages of ad hominem attacks regardless of position.

If you don't have anything to add for either side of the argument, why make yourself look silly?

Nature can buffer the effects of global warming according to research.

[C]an naturally occurring processes selectively buffer the full brunt of global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions resulting from human activities?

Yes, find researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Johns Hopkins University in the US and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
...
The Israeli and US scientists used measurements from satellite observations and output from chemistry-climate models to understand recent temperature trends in the TTL. Temperature measurements show where significant changes have taken place since 1979.

The satellite observations have shown that warming of the tropical Indian Ocean and tropical Western Pacific Ocean -- with resulting increased precipitation and water vapor there -- causes the opposite effect of cooling in the TTL region above the warming sea surface. Once the TTL cools, less water vapor is present in the TTL and also above in the stratosphere.

Since water vapor is a very strong greenhouse gas, this effect leads to a negative feedback on climate change. That is, the increase in water vapor due to enhanced evaporation from the warming oceans is confined to the near- surface area, while the stratosphere becomes drier. Hence, this effect may actually slightly weaken the more dire forecasted aspects of an increasing warming of our climate, the scientists say.
