Kwik Trip on Gammon RD, WTF?

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Postby Michael Patrick » Tue May 01, 2007 3:25 pm

Why not just go to Woodmans and buy a goddamn two liter bottle? That's like 66 ounces...

I never started drinking coffee, not even when it became the it thing to do...Have I tried coffee and its variations, yes, but I don't like it, it is bitter tasting to me, etc. So just think about how many cups of coffee you drink in a day via at home, the office, or Starbucks.
Since I dont drink coffee however, my main drink is soda or Pop or Coke (whatever you want to call it...)so yeah I look for the place I can get the most for my buck.
In addition to folks telling me to goto Arby's or Wendy's or LaBamba...Large or EX large Sodas there cost about $1.75 (if you think about this, that can be the price of 2 Two liters of Coke which would be about 126oz) At KwikTrip though a 60oz MegaBuddy is only 1.15 (if you reuse and refill your cup after an intial purchase of 1.42)

But in general my post wasn't meant to be made about The MegaBuddy it was more "why a seemingly busy business establishment would just suddenly be closed with no sort of warning or 'Gossip'" about town.

Paco you saying you never have 3 or 4 beers before you go take a "break" if you drink 4 beers that is about 60oz. If you order a Tall draft beer at a sports bar. then you only need two

No fucking shit. Unless you're a diabetic in the midst of a low blood sugar attack, you're nuts to even think about that shit. And if you're not, you soon will be if you keep pouring that much corn syrup down your gullet on a daily basis.

I take a wee after 1.5 beers. Diet Coke is the worst, can barely make it thru a can. ;)

Wasn't teh Lumberjack even bigger at Stop n Go?

Among a handful of people I know, Kwik Trip inspires a weird amount of loyalty. It can't be the massive beverage fountain, where they encourage you (via a recent ad campaign) to make your own soda mash-ups. (Um... blecch!)

My best guess is that it has something to do with their presence in so many small towns in the area. (Drive to Platteville on 151, and you'll find one in every town of at least about 2,000.) Gives people who moved here from the hinterlands something familiar.

Who knows? I grew up near plenty of them, but I don't feel the need to seek them out here in Madison.

Maybe it's the no-fee ATMs. Now those rock.

I, personally, am a diehard kwik trip fan. They have the cheepest bananas, OJ, dang near everything is well priced. Like grocery store prices compared to typical gas station prices. I know when I'm on the road, I'll go out of my way to hit a Kwik Trip.

That's my two cents. I actually though Madison didn't have any KTs. Was that the last one?

Kwik Trips are out of LaCrosse, while PDQs are from Middleton/Madison. KT never got a toehold in the Madison market, especially since Stop n Go's HQ is also here, as well as Open Pantry's.

Kelley Market is out of Rockford, but they have had no problem firmly establishing themselves out of the blue in Madison in the past few years. I know there are a few KT's here & there in Madison, but it does seem like their market focus is on smaller communities.
