Abbrev. that make you crazy

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Abbrev. that make you crazy

Postby TheBookPolice » Fri Aug 24, 2007 1:07 pm

Mine: "Parm" for parmigiana, "veg" for vegetables, "sammy" for sandwich (this was, of course, a discussion born out of a food thread...that doesn't need to limit the discussion now, though). Oh, and "tho" for though.

Oddly, I love "sammitch/sammich" but hate "sammy."

I will leave out the IM-speak, as it's pretty much uniformly irritating.

Yours?

ps Sorry cubanat, I know you just came back from vacation, but this may be like fingernails on a chalkboard for you.

Now that I've been looking at the word "abbrev." for the last hour and a half, I can honestly say it drives me crazy.

In recent years, I've come to despise the abbreviation "W/O", but only because the untrained teenagers who work the grill at McDonald's routinely read it as "With Only", so instead of getting my double-cheeseburger without ketchup, it comes with only ketchup, rendering it completely inedible.

LOL!

Yeah, well lot's of luck to you, too, though I have no idea what you mean.

But I guess that's an initialism, not an abbreviation. Sorry.
