How Do Your Children's Friends Address You?

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Postby Bwis53 » Sat Nov 17, 2007 8:45 am

I also gave my sons' friends the option of Mrs. or my first name. Some were uncomfortable with using the first name. I was one of the moms pledged to be a 'safe house', where any child could ring the bell or knock, if they were in any kind of danger. I'm kind of proud kids felt safe and happy at our home.

I have to agree with (Mr.)jjoice on this one, as he is the only one so far that is pointing out the drastic change in family structure that has happened over the last 30 years.

Mr. so-and-so is very 1950's Leave it to Beaver, and nobody deserves respect simply for being older.

While I do not like the Mr./Mrs./Ms. formality, I'd go with it if the i in Titor has the short vowel sound. No use in depriving your kid's friends of the fun.

I was thinking about this, after my last comment. Whatever my sons' friends and their parents addressed me by, had more to do with attitude and respect, than which name we addressed eachother. (They could have call me Mrs., like Eddie Haskel called Mrs.Cleaver.) Or by my first name, with real respect. We all knew the difference. Something to be very grateful for.
