Who already has their tree up?

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Who already has their tree up?

Postby Endo Rockstar » Wed Nov 30, 2011 12:18 pm

Mrs. Motor is a bit of a Christmas Cop. The tree is up and the lights are on the house. Anyone else?

Yes, as of Sunday.

Plug: our realtor has an annual customer appreciation day for anyone who has bought or sold a house with her. Free cut-your-own tree. Always the Sunday after T-Giving. For a free tree, I'll gladly put it up early.

Day after xgiving. Wife's little project for Black Friday. She takes it down Dec. 26th.

This part I will never understand. Trees are also for New Years.

Ha! I screwed up the quote and seem to have changed your spouse's gender. Sorry!

Or... maybe, merry Christmas; however it works out.

Wives are generally female and in WI same sex marriage is akin to marrying chairs and dogs, or so I'm told.

Tree & lights are up, and there they shall remain until Epiphany.

We get it this weekend, it'll go up sometime between then and the next weekend, and it'll come down sometime before February.

Helped the old man get his on Saturday. We'll be getting ours this Saturday. It will be up through the New Year and/or until Little Ned knocks it over.

I decorate my house plants (mostly trees) around the solstice. The lights and ornaments generally get put away late January or early February.

This weekend at the earliest, probably more like next week. We get ours from the gourmet meat deli down the street (Knoche's) and then walk it up to the house (it' s like a 3-block walk), spreading good cheer and tree sap the entire way.

I'll plug in my little 6" tree* and hang a few shoddy decorations mere minutes before I go to pick up my girlfriend on Christmas Eve. And it'll all come down as soon as I get home from dropping her off the next night. But the concrete owl in my living room (y'all have one of these too, right?) has been wearing his Christmas Packers hat since football season started, so I'm not so much curmudgeonly -- I do, after all, make an annual Christmas Mix -- as just not enraptured by twinkly things or cleaning up the mess my cat would make by repeatedly knocking over a tree.

(This is an old picture. He's also currently wearing a really kick-ass vintage Baretta t-shirt.)

*This setup is my Christmas present to Flanders.

Nice! I forgot to mention that every year we top our Xmas tree with a "Santa Bono" - a custom made cut out of Bono's smug face, done up all Santa-style, complete with santa hat and white, fluffy beard (made out of cotton balls). Nothing says Xmas quite like our lord and savior on top of a Xmas Tree. We usually leave him up 'til all is quiet on New Year's Day - then it's to the curb, at which point we forget all about his message of peace and love.

Exactly. That is the very reason why Ms Vilas and I haven't put up a tree in years.
