It turns out that if you dose spiders with various chemicals, they change the way they spin their webs. Here are some examples:
Most chemicals seem to impair spiders' abilities to construct their webs. The one exception (surprisingly enough) is LSD, which apparently results in webs that are actually better-constructed than those of the untreated spiders. (I personally wouldn't take this as reason to experiment with LSD, but it's still interesting).
