Not to derail the thread, but that is a matter of some debate. Certainly he was raised Catholic. He did not go to church at all as an adult. The Nazis certainly released Christian-themed propaganda. But their private beliefs were all over the board. Some Nazis were atheists. Some advocated a return to the Norse gods. Others advocated doing nothing to the churches until the war was over, and then taking control of them. Some were Catholic, and some were Protestant.
Hitler at times appeared to advocate all of those views, plus some others, including a view of Christianity which rejected the Old Testament. He also apparently admired Eastern religions and Islam for being less mealy-mouthed.
Mussolini was less conflicted.
