Iron Man and Dark Knight are at the top of my list. Still haven't seen the first F4, but may have to rent it as I'm interested in Silver Surfer.

Oh, and Hellboy 2 will be a good time. Del Toro did such a fantastic job on Blade 2 and Pan's Labyrinth, and he brings all that fantasy and action stuff together in Hellboy and its just amazing. Fun action that really keeps the soul of the comic book.

Man of Steel I'm both anticipating and dreading. Superman Returns was so boring, even if the cast and crew was by all accounts perfect. If Singer can bang out a story where Superman actually fights someone like Darkseid, Metallo, or Parasite we'd have a hell of a movie. Lex Luthor's land schemes have got to go, and I'd prefer to see the Super-family thing from Returns be resolved as quickly as possible without bogging down the action.
Superman is a great character and an icon and its senseless for him to be in so many bad movies.

Don't. Go for it on FF2, but for the love of god, don't see the first one.

It's not that bad.

Either way.. I'd like them to make Danger Girl myself.

how bad will #3 be then? Batman, X-men, Spider-man, and Superman all were goofy parodies of themselves by #3.

Don't blame the Bat, blame the kook directing Batman Forever.

I just watched Fantastic Four for the first time about a week ago for the same reason as Shipley.
It wasn't a bad movie. It was fun and the special effects were good, and Dr. Doom has always been a cool villain, despite his similarities to Magneto.

I'm interested in seeing the majority of the films listed, although I'm not too interested in Sin City 2 since I didn't think the first was all that, and I'm also not that interseted in Magneto's origins.
I have the same feelings as Shipley about the next Superman, and I have a feeling they are going to bump up Superman's advesaries in the sequel to Superman Returns.

I don't understand what was so wrong with Ang Lee's Hulk that warranted another. I liked it. But nevertheless I'm interested in seeing the new version with Ed Norton.

Robert Downey Jr. is an interesting choice to play Iron Man.

Batman Begins and Hellboy were top notch in my book, so naturally I'm all for the sequels.
Wolverine's a great character and Hugh Jackman personifies the character. I'm interested in the character's origins, so here's to hoping the script and director will do a good job.

I blame the kooks directing all of these. Spider-man is the only hero franchise not to change directors with the 3rd movie, and even then he fell flat on his face.

Richard Lester added all the slapstick into Superman 2 and then turned 3 into a Richard Pryor movie.

Brett Ratner came in with less than a month's notice to do X-Men 3, so I can't asses blame toward him, but the writer and ousted director Zak Penn gets that heat for turning in such a sloppy followup.

Batman and Hellboy will likely be OK into the 3rd movie since their directors and actors take other projects in between. Sam Raimi spent the last 7 years only doing spiderman, and I feel like he might have derailed the movie on purpose. The Prestige was a great follow up to Batman Begins, and I hope there will be another movie like it from Nolan and Bale after Dark Knight.

Most of the films you mention here were awful (every Superman movie, Punisher) some of the movies mentioned are entertaining and fun (Hellboy, Spider-Man), some close to great (Batman Begins) but NONE of them is anywhere near the quality of "The Prestige" in terms of acting, casting, screenwriting, plot, and execution.

That movie stomps all over nearly everything I've seen in years, and certainly most of these disappointing super hero manglings.

If you have not seen it, you should. And DON'T let anyone tell you a thing about it until you have seen it yourself.

It is a work of fine art.

Saw Silver Surfer last night. I find it amusing the biggest set peice in the entire movie was the four of them fighting a ferris wheel. Silver Surfer didn't really "rise" so much as show up, get beaten, then fly away.

it wasn't bad actually. I think it works better as a comedy than some serious action movie.

Who Watches the Watchmen, bitches? That is all I care about and hopefully it will decimate the superhero playing field and put any film that came before to shame. Of course, they could royally screw it up, but Zack Snyder seems to get it:
[quote]
On the other hand, if you ever want to make another movie, then you're in trouble if you don't look at it from the standpoint of, "What are the images I need here?" Dr. Manhattan walking through Vietnam 200 feet tall, the Comedian riding with the 50-caliber rifle and shooting at the Viet Cong and burning out the village... Those images are going to be like, "What the f---?" Or you have Rorschach being taken down by the SWAT copsâ€â€

Just for the record, I hated, Hated, HATED The Prestige.
It was boring and dragged on too long.
Both magicians were egotistical assholes, and for god sakes when is hollywood/audiences going to realize that Scarlett Johannsen is nothing more than pretty face and a grade A rack - she can't act!

Let me save all of you who haven't seen the movie the trouble of seeing it - THE MACHINE CREATES DOUBLES OF PEOPLE. Yes, IT REALLY DOES!
There, no reason to see it now. You should thank me, I'm doing a public service.

I'm a pure pig, I'll let her stay as long as she has that grade A rack.

Though I think your ego is a bit more inflated than either of the magicians in the movie if you think just because YOU didn't like it, you're allowed the spoil the ending for anyone who might still want to see it and like it. Thanks for making the decision for everyone MadMind, you're living up to your name.
