Public Enemies

AV Club gives it a C+ today. Travers at Rolling Stone loves it. Time's Richard Corliss, not so much. 64% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes isn't exactly great pub going into a Wednesday release.

I know a Foron contingent will be viewing it tomorrow night. I have to admit that the trailers would never have spoken to me if I didn't recognize the Capitol in there, and even now I'm not so enticed. But I love Michael Mann, and Depp/Bale is a pretty killer combination, on paper.

Who's itching to see it? Who's ignoring it completely? Who's with me, uncomfortably in the middle?

Two more reviews:

3.5 stars from Ebert; Manohla Dargis of the New York Times opens her review by calling it a "grave and beautiful work of art".

I'm looking forward to it, mostly because it looks like it will be good. The local connection is cool, but definitely a secondary consideration.
