Rita Adair. Dane County social worker. Semi-well known in the community. WSJ story about her reviving the former Slipper Club here.

That is the new Ivory Room, opening soon.

Rita Adair sang a number at a wedding I played this summer. She is one heck of a singer.

Blues & Jazz club eh?
Judging by their calendar it appears as if it's turned into more of a hip-hop/R&B club to me.

Looks like they're having a hip-hop/R&B DJ on Thursdays.

Maybe the encouraged age range is an attempt to keep trouble to a minimum, but unfortunately for them I think it's the 18-24 crowd that'd be most interested in those shows (in Madison at least).

Did they really turn away people under 25? Is that legal?

What's even more insane is they have been flailing (like I said a blues club would) and have now decided to be a gay bar.
new ads in the outreach calendar about proudly serving the LGBT community and throwing drag shows and wymen night.
Not to mention name drops (Hotel Wash, Rainbow Room....)
Not so much ingenious.
Ingenuous.

I believe so. I don't believe the feds, the state nor the city classifies those from 21 to 25 as a protected class.

So has anyone been there yet?
According to http://www.adairslounge.com/music.html you can suggest music to be added to their jukebox.
Is a jukebox in yet? If so, what sort of music do they have in it? Blues & Jazz? Or is it all over the board?

I saw Bobby Bryan and the Downtown Players do some fine blues on Saturday night at the Harmony, where I danced with a gentleman who goes to hear them play frequently. He told me they play regularly at Adair's; looks to be Friday nights. Think I know what I'm doing this Friday...

Latone Hart used to work at the Paramount when it was around. He also used to work at the hip-hop station out of Janesville....105.9 FM
