A quick note to other drivers

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

A quick note to other drivers

Postby Prof. Wagstaff » Thu Mar 08, 2007 4:12 pm

If you're trying to pass someone, you really have to drive faster than they are.

Is the concept of a highway passing lane really that difficult?

Yeah, it felt really good to get that off my chest. I'm much calmer now.

Thanks for listening, LoopBo - and thanks for clearing up that whole Genesis thing, too. Man, that was confusing!

I'd like to add, when there is a red light a half block ahead, and you, the guy right on my ass, swerve out and pass me, and I pull up next to you at the red light 5 seconds later, that little smile and almost imperceptible shake of the head that I give your girlfriend in the passenger seat, that isn't flirting, it's pity.

If the traffic ahead of you is backed up to the intersection, do not pull into the intersection, especially if the light is already yellow. Wot the fok?

May I also add that if my observations of Madison area drivers are correct, when a light is changing from yellow to red, a driver should accelerate in an attempt to cross the threshold of the perpendicular street as if you just won the Nascar Redneck 3000 Challenge. As for pedestrians attempting to cross at that moment-two words come to mind ....natural selection.

We should all be thankful that we have our cars to help us channel our dysfunctional lives. Hooray for oil and entitlement-based culture.

I seem to see this mostly on Johnson St, and I'm hoping it is lost tourists. That still doesn't excuse it, however.

Do you really think it is OK to make a left turn from the center lane? Or the right side of the road?

Bet you can't wait until the next phase of road construction starts in the next few weeks.

Madison seems to be down to two seasons: ice fishing and road construction.

Details here.

I saw a woman on the belt line this morning talking on the cell phone and putting on mascara at the same time. I didn't know this was possible

No pity for that guy.

I try not to be too much of an old fogey when driving but the "fast and furious" drivers, swerving in and out, six inches off your bumper, really get to me. If I see one of them go by me on the highway and later on see him upside down in the ditch, I'm not going to stop and help, I might call it in if I'm not low on my minutes.

The speed limit on Broadway is 40.

How come everyone seems to drive 35-40 on all the streets with a speed limit of 25-30 but only 30 on Broadway?

GET MOVIN'!

Doesn't that road at least have 2 lanes or a passing lane? CV has the same problem of slow drivers except it's one lane and when they fixed it up they conveniently made it no passing. Alas, you used to be such a quick route. :(
