Downtown Drinking

"The alcohol policy coordinator" AKA The BAR CZAR

When did the clowns running this city come up with this gem?

I love how this town appoints new, expensive, and nonsensical bureaucrats every time the rich people living downtown come face to face with the reality of reality. You bought a condo downtown for God's sake. The UW is known for it's binge drinking problems; what did you fools expect? Now we have yet another useless position that will do nothing more than calm the fears of the rich.

I wish I was rich and could go before the city council and wave a magic wand and get whatever I wanted at a moments notice. It must be nice to have so many politicians kissing your feet.

I thought the politicians were all a bunch of socialist trying to unfairly take the rich's money from them?

Consistency was your one quality. . .

Go easy on the kids, Chuck. There are a lot of things you can hold on to that will help prevent your fall even if you are fall-down drunk. For example, at least once a month people discover that they can use the buttons that buzz the apartments in my building to break their fall. I know, it's really altruistic of me to have them out there for people to push and grab while drunk, but what can I say, I'm just that kind of guy.

Also, they can probably hold on to the sax player who plays outside ben & jerry's. Although, in an exciting development, recently there was a different sax player near there who was actually decent. Kids, don't grab onto that person. Only the bad sax player, please.

See, some people think that one of the functions of government is to try to protect the public health, safety and welfare, and that when a group of citizens is doing something demonstrably harmful to themselves and society, that government should try various educational, environmental and regulatory approaches to end such destructive behavior.

You apparently disagree.

I'm one of those people. I am not one of those who wasted their first chance at tax subsidized "access" to public health information.

From my knowledge the government already supplies the above. As I pointed out, the bar czar seems to be nothing more than a baby sitter for dumb people who did not listen in high school when they were initially instructed about the dangers of binge drinking. Not to mention all of the tax subsidized anti-binge drinking â??drink responsiblyâ?Â
