National TV turn off week - April 23-29

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Can you go without TV for a week? Can your kids?

I'll give it a shot (I did watch channel 15 news for about 20 minutes this morning; found out later about it being turn off week).

There is absolutely NO WAY I am going to turn my TV off.
Someone has to monitor those tiny people in there.

That's the spirit!

I already checked in on Robin Meade this morning (still hot) so I might as well keep watching.

On a related note, I hadn't watched, read or listened to any weather forecasts for the past few days. When the wind came up last night I didn't know rain was coming until I SMELLED it and quickly ran around closing windows.

It was pretty cool being taken by surprise like that.

Did channel 15 do a report on Turnoff Week? I'm guessing not.

Y'know, why can't they do this when the tube is full of re-runs and stuff?

Certainly planting your ass in front of the TV too many hours per week is not going to help you reach your fitness goals.

In case you were under some illusion that sitting on the couch qualifies as aerobic exercise, the site offers you this slogan:

"Our programs are not for everyone...but if you care about your children...you're going to listen to what we have to say."

So apparently if you're single like me or don't care about your children like most parents, you are exempt.

SWEET.

Nope; I found out from a friend's email.

Ch. 15 will report on Email turnoff week, whenever that is.

it's pretty easy to not watch tv for a week if you don't have a tv. what would really b e hard would be a computer turn off week, which i suspect, for children of the 21st century, will be much harder to accomplish.

If they did, no one would be watching it, right?
