You shouldn't have said that.

The wrong people see it, tax increases on your ingredients....hops, malts, extracts, etc. will surely ensue.

Electricity is included in my rent, but my landlord got really pissed as to why the light bill was so big after I started growing "hops" in my closet.

Silly Rabbit hops can be grown legally outside not like their cousin.

Not that you are wrong, but I find this very interesting: five Wisconsin breweries that don't even sell their product in state. Which ones are they?

Five Tax-Shirking Breweries:
1) Associated/Karl Strauss Breweries -- Stevens Point
2) Hornell Brewing/Ferolito,Vultaggio -- LaCrosse
3) Pig's Eye Brewing Co LLC -- LaCrosse
4) Rockstar Brewing Co Inc -- LaCrosse
5) Sleeman Brewing Co USA Inc -- LaCrosse

Interesting. I'll have to look again when next I visit a liquor store, but I'd almost swear I've seen Pig's Eye and Sleeman products for sale around here.

It's possible.
Pig's Eye exported 98% (not 100% as I reported)of their total of 11,150 barrels. So some of the remainder were consumed somewhere in Wisconsin. I think a tad over 300 barrels.

Sleeman brewed 185,000 barrels and exported the lot except for 24 barrels. So you may have seen one of those lucky 24.

Hornell was just a few barrels shy of 100% exported as well.

Not in the middle of winter they can't. You know, for people who need a large year-round supply of hops, I guess.

Both breweries tend to show up at most, if not all the beer tasting festivals in WI. Perhaps they are exempt since they are "giving it away". I don't know how much business sense it makes for them to give away beer in a state they don't distribute to...but hey, free beer!

I'll see what I can find. I based that statement on comments I remember from the last session when similar legislation was introduced. It was very evident that supporters really did not approve of drinking. Since I enjoy drinking occasionally, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

Still waiting for some examples of the sponsors' snooty attitude.

Oh no! Still waiting? I can just imagine, drumming your fingers, looking at your watch, wondering what's taking so damn long...

My comment was based on something I'd read approximately two years ago. If it were relatively easy to go back and find, I'd be happy to share said examples with you. I suspect the supporters will be speaking again soon, perhaps when it's time for a vote, and if at that time a snooty attitude is voiced, I will make a point of letting you know. For now, if you don't want to believe me, fine.

Just remember, I am not opposed to the proposed increase, because I can separate the merits of a public policy proposal from some tactless supporters of said policy. So why the hell would I make it up?

In any event, stop waiting. Get up, stretch, go take a shower.
