quick canoe question

Postby narcoleptish » Fri Jul 13, 2007 4:14 pm

I'm trying to locate a canoe for the paddle and portage and am wondering about weight. Among aluminum, plastic, and fiberglass, is there one of those that is generally lighter, or does it variate among the makes and models. We used a plastic one last year but were hoping to find something lighter without taking out a second mortgage for kevlar.

There's fairly light fiberglass, and then again there are also cheap heavy fiberglass ones. Mine is royalex plastic, not the lightest, but good enough for my non-racing usages.

Aluminum is definitely not the way to go if you want light.

Rutabaga usually has a selection of used boats, look at their website to see a list of what they have.
