Welcome back students

What are the things that puzzle, enrage, delight and tickle you as you go about your life in Madison?

Postby TAsunder » Wed Aug 22, 2007 4:51 pm

I find it unlikely that the vast majority of people with excessive subwoofage are college students. I hear them no matter what time of year it is.

The thing that is really disturbing to me is how poor the sound quality is in many cases. You've got incredible amounts of rattling to the point that clearly the music sounds like ass even IN the car. Spend $20 and get a dynamat license plate dampener, for christ's sake.

I know I should have more civic pride, but The band doesn't do a whole lot for me.

On the other hand: disgarded wrappers swirling in the breeze is perfectly evocative! Add a concerned citizen stooping to clean up the streets and sidewalk while emanating a quiet self righteousness and youv'e got a slice of urban drama.

For those UW students that do read it:

- Red Letter News is a publisher of socialist ideology

- Never watch oncoming traffic at intersections, just wait until anyone steps off the curb and follow their lead.
It's perfectly safe.

- It's a Madison tradition that when you pass a Sate Street cop you can grab his/her gun and dance away playfully.
Fun will ensue.

- Jumping off the Monona Terrace roof is safe and completely acceptable.

- Drinking and sitting on precarious balcony railings is highly reccomended.

- You can take your mixed drinks and beers out into the street and wonder around wherever you like.

- Firearms and weapons are mandatory at Halloween.

- Never recycle.

That's funny. I was going to post something similar (although only as similar as one can be to the inimitable blunt).

I had that very thing happen to me (first time this season) last night. State was crawling with nubile young ho-bags in training, and a large pack of them decided to literally dart out in front of my full-speed (if very small) auto. Sadly for the Darwin Awards, they decided to dart back like the human squirrels they are. I gave a honk, knowing it would only arouse their passions, and was rewarded with a Doppler-shifted "don't you honk at me!"

Ah, party sluts. To think I never availed myself of their willfully ignorant sluttiness when I was in college.

Here's my question: It is supposed to be so hard to get into a Big Ten College. Did these people really make the grade?

Hard? I've never heard that. Some are more difficult to get into than others, I suppose, but generally, nah.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and all, but do you really think the best way to meet said babes was trolling the men's room at Olin Park?

My one request of students is please, PLEASE do not get a dog. Every year at this time you see clueless kids around campus walking their new puppy. Come late spring you don't see nearly as many of them walking grown dogs. I only hope they get sent back home and not just dropped off at the pound.

Now you're just being silly, Ned.

I doubt TheBookPolice is a Republican.

What's the problem? Who wants to fuck large youths anyway?
