Wonder's Pub

Postby boston_jeff » Fri Oct 19, 2007 11:02 am

OK, so a friend has invited me to Wonder's Pub on Saturday and we want to go...only problem, Game 6 of the ALCS is on at 7. Does Wonder's have sports on TV? Even if its one TV on CC I could handle it (there is live music scheduled). These games on Fox tend to be marathons, so if I stay at home to watch, I may never make it over.

Thanks!

Yes, there are two or three smallish screens, at least one of which will likely have the game on. Hop down the street to Wilson's if you want to watch on more or larger screens...

I may have to step out and do that if its a close game. I'm hoping we have a huge lead and I won't have to obsessively watch...Thanks for the info

I thought that asking regular clientele what typically happens when live music was playing would be the way to go. I have had bad luck calling bars and saying "will such and such game be on..." Usually they say something like "well, we have a TV..."

Knowing that they have multiple TVs, games are usually on, and that another place down the street will have it could only be found out through a 3rd party. But I thank you for your sincere attempt at helping me out. I never would have thought to google the place on my own.

Aw, go easy on our friend Blunt. Wonders for sure will have the game on at least one of the screens. If not, just ask, they'll hook you up. I know they show the games two doors down at the Ideal/Ordeal, and across the street at Pitcher's. (Just that Wilson's is a good 4-5 blocks away...)

Wonders is @ 1980 Atwood, Wilson's is 2144....not quite 4-5 blocks

1-2 big city blocks.
4-5 small town blocks.

I guess we must now debate the question of whether Madison is a big city or small town.

Or, we could agree on the fact that there will be ALCS action at Wonders and kill this sad thread.

I do have to ask, isn't a real time game the same length no matter who shows it.

Not in baseball. not in the playoffs and not on Fox. They squeeze more than a few extra commercial spots in.

they have longer pregames and post-season games also tend to be longer b/c of long and extra innings. at least thats how it goes with the red sox...7 run innings drag the game out, and the tie games go late. everyone on the east coast is complaining about the fox 8 pm start times (really 8:20), since many games last until well after midnight. its more of a playoff thing than a fox thing...

i don't mind, its just that if i stay at home to watch and it turns into a long game, i won't make it to wonder's.

Be sure to enjoy an ice cold Old Milwaukee in a can while you're there.

I believe the band will play Foggy Mtn. Breakdown for every Manny Ramirez homerun. Let's hope for good pitching.
