The Office

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

The Office

Postby Rosemary » Tue Apr 22, 2008 4:39 pm

Without initiating a snarky argument about UK vs. US, I want to say that I love this show.

Sure, the Pam & Jim storyline is great, but I love cringing every week at the situations Michael and others create for themselves. It's the only show I watch on a regular basis.

By the way, hulu.com is a free source for catching up on back episodes. It's been quite useful lately.

Any other fans?

Love. The. Office.
And Jim and Pam's lovecrap hasn't wrecked the show yet--and looks like it won't.
Ed Helms is a genius at playing dickwad.
Rainn Wilson (sounds like a hippy chick) is my boy.
Remember Galaxy Quest? (4th from right)

Galaxy Quest is the greatest comedy you've never seen.

Galaxy Quest > Spaceballs.

I disliked the US office first couple epsidoes because the jokes were ripped wholesale from the UK one... but honestly, why not? most people hadn't seen it.

I'm amazed the show is as good as it is after this long and treading into the Jim/Pam thing. I get the impression the writers know they'd lose the smarter viewers if they dive too deep into it, and so the fact that they date is incidental and theres less than 30 seconds each show dedicated to advancing the story between them. Mostly its an excuse to put them together and witness the horror of Michael Scott.

Creed however, is my favorite by FAR.

Yeah, the Pam and Jim thing is the somewhat low point of the show...love the rest of it. Must see TV.

They did a very good job of making the characters of Pam and Jim likable enough that when they throw those kissyface moments in there I'm kinda happy for them instead of rolling my eyes.
All sitcoms have had romances that they beat you over the head with, and I feel less abused by this one.

Yeah, I like the ensemble of the whole show. Call me a dirty ol' lady, but I still woulda liked to have seen Jim nail Pam to the desk top, that one time. Then they could have strolled (limped?) out, rearranging their clothes, with guilty looks on their faces. I'm so tired of all the mean, dark rotten reality, crime crap.

My creed also.
And I quiver with pleasure at treading the reality line with everyone using their actual real life first names....
