WSJ TV-Section Now In Thursdays Paper

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

WSJ TV-Section Now In Thursdays Paper

Postby MadMind » Wed May 21, 2008 3:06 pm

All I have to say about this is WTF?!?
They're really trying to screw all of us who only get the Sunday paper. Thursday through Wednesday? Seriously now, that makes NO sense.

TV section?

Can't you get TV listings online? I'm surprised they still print the schedule in the paper.

On the Sunday the TV Week did not appear in my Sunday paper, I called and asked WTF. I had heard you could get the Thursday version of the State Journal with TV Week inside for free, but I was told that since I was already a subscriber who had payment regular deducted from my checking account, I was ineligible (!). So I canceled my subscription outright.

I know Cap News is trying to get people to get the Thursday paper so people might take a look at the "new" Capital Times tucked inside. I don't know how many Sunday subscribers they've lost by this stroke of genius, but I can't imagine them staying with this policy for long. Is there nothing that Cap News won't try in its quest to lose subscribers?

The guide is also included in the free 77 Isthmus wannabe rag they give away on Wednesdays.

Yeah, everyone knows that MadMind's Commodore 64 can't access the Internet.

Yeah, another reason I'm pissed at WSJ.
I noticed the rental section was missing too. Their print and online stuff often differs. You can do a customized TV Guide online.

I just guessed, and typed http://tv.yahoo.com/ and sure enough THE VERY FIRST LINK IS LISTINGS.

I know you're bitching about WSJ ripping you off, but I'm providing you with a reasonable, low bandwidth, means of getting up to date TV listings that you can even click on for more information. tap the name of a show in the paper listings and you'll get newsprint on your fingers.

My way is faster, more informative, eco-friendly, and more sanitary.
I do say some really stupid shit.

I'm sorry to break it to you but not everyone has digital cable or satellite television or TIVO's or cable boxes with interactive menu's.
And without an interactive menu, channel 2 (the TV Guide channel) takes forever to get through.
Oh yeah, just let me run over to the computer to see what's on. Seriously?

Maybe its time you turned the TV off if you lack the fortitude to walk to the computer and look at a schedule to see whats on.

What? Van Damme has been given French citizenship?? What, is he a refugee? That's like Wayne Gretzky defecting to the south!

And now as of August 20, 2008 Charter will be moving the TV Guide Channel (2) to digital cable only.
Now I'll never know what's on!!!
This is flat-out outrageous.
