Is there a Madison food cart map or guide?

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

Is there a Madison food cart map or guide?

Postby tii » Tue Jun 03, 2008 8:15 pm

Hi all...with the annual student migration, two of my favorite food carts are gone from Library Mall. Maybe they've moved and maybe they've packed up for the summer (or forever.) One is Zen Sushi, which makes killer Miso Soup and acceptable sushi (especially for a food cart.) The other is a cart that was new this year, FIBS, which is (surprise!) an Illinois couple serving Chicago-style Italian Beef and Sausage. I may not eat meat, but just standing next to that cart takes me home! And my friends love it when I bring some back to the office. Anyway, my search brings me to the question in the subject line: Is there somewhere that tracks where the food carts are (or do I just have to count on occasional sightings in The Forum, like some sort of gastronomic Audubon Society report?) Any help/info on the guide or the missing carts would be most welcome...tii

The FIBs and sundry other carts tend to hang around Langdon during nice weather serving the drunken bottemless gastro silos called frat boys.
No map I know of.
All carts are at only 3 sites:
Langdon
Library Mall
Capitol Square

I'm not counting the various fairs and festivals nor the hotdog cart in front of Willy St Coop nor the nomadic movements of late night carts downtown.

bump!

The city's street vending department publishes a PDF, linked from here:

It's a list organized by weekday/weekend location and type:

Very nice.

It is my hope that the City of Madison will pass an ordinance prohibiting the Buraka cart from ever ceasing business. If Marcus moves on, they must sell to another person who cannot change anything.....

Misirwot ftw.
