So who read the article in the WiSJ Thursday about the man pulled over for the air freshener hanging from his visor? Guess what, it turned out he had 2 grams of pot in his car (roughly 5 or 6 bowls, by my calculations
), and he was cited.
The citation was later thrown out on some kind of technicality, no probable cause to search or something. But the article also mentioned that Dane Co. DA Brian Blanchard raised the threshhold for criminal charges of possession from 7g to 25g (almost an ounce). Anything under this is presumably a municipal citation (MGO 23.20 if memory serves, but I'm no attorney). Yay Brian Blanchard! Now just get something statewide and we'll be set.
