Blue Velvet Fans?

Postby brdnwi » Fri Jul 11, 2008 5:04 pm

I must say that my favorite spot in Madison is the Blue Velvet. I've been all over this great city from one bar to the next and not one place feels like Blue Velvet. I just love the laid back feel. It's truly a lounge to me, but at the same time it can be a great hangout. Sometimes lounges are to loungy and hangouts are to crazy. BV as we call is the spot. I've had many great nights there.

Huge fan. Dennis Hopper was brilliant. Probably the best David Lynch film out there.

It's a sweet place, if you like 19 year old sorority girls...but then again, who doesn't?

Marvell's "internal dialogue" on this one:

Marvell's evil conscience: Fuck her. Fuck her brains out. Suck her tits, squeeze her buns. You know she wants it.
Marvell's good conscience: For shame! Marvell, I'm surprised at you!
Marvell's evil conscience: Aw, don't listen to that jack-off. Look at those gazongas. You'll never get a better chance.
Marvell's good conscience: If you lay one finger on that poor sweet helpless girl, you'll despise yourself forever... I'm proud of you, Marvell.
Marvell's evil conscience: You homo.

It's telling that you only needed that much bored-in-study-hall, junior high-level sex fantasy writing to get yourself off. Poor Ms. Flanders.

Although, it's worth pointing out that not everyone falls back on gay j'accuses in arguments in- or external.

Animal House bookie.

The Blue Velvet, now I get it. About five years before I moved here, I was out in Madison on a business trip with my boss (collaborating with my current boss). She insisted we go out to a "martini bar." So we ended up at the Blue Velvet. Nightmare. Although we liked the fact that the drinks were so cheap vs. Boston.

Don't write this down, but I find Bookie probably as boring as you find Bookie. Mrs. Bookie finds him boring too. He's a little bit long-winded, he doesn't translate very well into our generation, and his jokes are terrible.

You can't hold the whole DPF responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole Daily Page? And if the whole Daily Page is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Bookie - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to me, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

I'm sorry the same can't be said about you and cross-dressing.

How dare you wreck my bit.

I don't know what tack you're taking to insult me, but whatever. I apologize for making an inflammatory comment at your wife, whether she exists or not (there's no Mrs. "Bookie", by the way, and god that shortening is obnoxious).

Please ignore my non-contribution to this thread, and continue discussing the Blue Velvet.
