Nice, packies for sure. Star for the nabe stop, Woodman's for the cheap beer, Costco for the cheap booze.

We have a new liquor store in Sun Prairie that is totally cool. Besides booze they have tastings, brewery supplies, gifts, chocolates.....

Jennifer Street Market has a pretty top notch beer selection (on occasion they get some specialty beers that aren't no one else in the area does). They also happen to be fairly priced.

Yes, but they're trying to spruce things up a bit.

And they really care about what they sell.

Yes, very good on beer. Terrible on wine, both on price and selection.

Thanks for all the heads-up on some other good shops.

Does anyone remember that quaint little liquor store on Olin? Or was it on Lakeside? It looked like it was run out of someone's house. Whatever happened to it?

I've never heard of it, but it's interesting that this came up at the top of a Gewgle search:

Can anyone clarify, elaborate, or expand?

(Where does one go to get his vic pierced?)

It's in a town island that is not part of the City of Madison, so Pierce's is not constrained by Madison's 9 pm closing law.

I agree and will take this a step further. Jennifer Street is the best on the near east side for beer hands down. How can you beat a great selection with fair prices inside a walk in cooler complete with sweatshirts provided to wear while shopping.

Fennel, you will have to excuse me as I do not know enough about wine to provide much debate. I don't understand what would make you say they are terrible on wine in both price and selection. No doubt there are numerous other places with better wine selections. In my experience (especially sinse they have expanded thier wine with the racks in the front corner) Jennifer as a nice selection for what little space they have. As far as price, I may just have not shopped around enough, but I've purcheased various cabs at jenny in the $8-$12 range that I have later seen at other establishments in the $12-$15 range. Am I getting ripped off or are you speaking of higher/lower priced wines?

Jeni Street is great for beer selection/price on the Isthmus, but I like Star too (and you can get booze). The under $10 wines that my wife buys at Jeni are usually fine. I think Woodman's has the best beer prices/selection combination. They have many that Jeni Street does not carry and usually have better prices (although there are some beers that only Jeni has).

Barrique's is probably the best place to buy premium wine, liquor, and accessories in Madison IMO. The prices are high, but they do have a better selection than most of the places mentioned in this thread.
