More from the same paper.

Michael Shamos, a Carnegie Mellon University computer science professor who studies election systems, said the dropoff didn't strike him as suspiciously large.

But seriously...where is there any indication of fraud by Franken?

It's not carpettbagging to return your native state and then run for office.

"Election fraud" and "stealing the election" are pretty strong charges that this article does not back up. These machines sit around in storage for a long time and then are hauled out and used. That a clock would run late is easy to imagine. I've experience this in other machines.

But you, Jason, have decided the self-interested Coleman campaign has it all figured out, even though this article doesn't support your assertions.

What else have you got Jason? Or would you be willing to let the recount process be completed before throwing around hysterical charges?

This reminds me of when Gore won the election, but his efforts to get it verified were called "stealing." Kind of a paranoia-fueled state of mind when they called trying to see who won "stealing."

But when all you have is the short straw...Recounts tend to favor Dems. I hope Franken wins.

I actually liked Franken's show back when Air America first went on the air. I used to listen to it most mornings at work until I started bring my iPod in.

And it's been off the air for over a year now. He's unlikely to go back to AAR, and I'd bet he'll take a good long break from radio if he doesn't pull this election out.

Unfortunately, Joycie's not on something, he's onto something. Ballots "found" in back seat of Minneapolis election director's car

"A judge ruled Saturday that 32 new absentee ballots will be counted in the race for U.S. Senate.

Coleman's campaign learned of the new ballots Friday night after a phone call from Minneapolis elections director Cynthia Reichert.

"We were actually told they had been riding around in her car for several days, which raised all kinds of integrity questions," said Coleman's attorney, Fritz Knaak."

The idea of Flanders being a jjoyce sock-puppet suddenly makes a lot of sense.

Isn't it interesting Ned, that Republicans suddenly want to count votes instead of throw them out?
Why it wasn't long ago when Bush Lawyers fought & succeeded in THROWING out military/overseas ballots in Gore counties in Florida. It seems like only yesterday when the US SC violated the Constitution in several ways, & created a deadline that doesn't exist in law anywhere, to threw out 60,000 unexamined ballots that showed Gore won the election. Never mind that K Harris also threw out another 120,000 unexamined over-vote ballots that she was required by Florida state law to manually verify before certifying the vote (often voters would check "Gore" & write in "Gore." A ballot the machines would reject, but a legal vote in Florida), or the 80,000 people who were labeled "felons" but weren't in Florida too. Never mind the massive Republican voter purges Nation wide every election cycle, or the electronic theft of Max Cleland's seat, & Blackwell's shifting Ohio's central tabulation to a GOP firm in Tennessee election night, or another Republican firm's erasing of the Diebold voting machine hard drives before they could be examined. The thefts of the Presidential elections, along with thefts of Dem congressional sets are one of the most serious crimes in our Nation's history. Election reform needs to be one of the top issues...

sort of like the people who voted for paul soglin for congress in to create an opening at city hall and the people who voted for former xxxvi. district (1991 redistricting) dane county supervisor buzz davis to get him off the stoughton city council? whether or not one agrees in a particular case, that is one of the smarter voting strategies of which i have heard and i wonder how many people voted for mr franken for that reason.

back when he was on i listened to messrs franken and limbaugh about in equal proportions and although one could call my politics primarily far left i always found limbaugh's show easier to take. i'm not sure who wrote mr franken's material for saturday night live but of the two i would have picked mr limbaugh for having been the comedian at one time.

of course, in addition to not always being right, mr limbaugh has some irritating habits which i know don't come just from him: to me, the term "conservative" has and always will connote a much more communitarian and somewhat more statist political philosophy an order of magnitude more sophisticated than what he means and extremely rare in the united states outside of the north central states and some portions of the industrial middle west. anti-labour, anti affirmative action, not so environmentally conscious, wanting to throw the uninsured to the dogs, the undocumented worker biz -- mr limbaugh represents a sector of the political spectrum that i would characterise as the f.p.ö. on crack, minus some of the late jörg haider's more outrageous views. same-sex marriage can even be said to be a conservative proposal.

on the other hand, those he calls liberals and socialists are really social democrats, left-wing christian democrats, greens, or centrist independents. again, not completely is fault. his constant harping on nancy pelosi is also somewhat irritating.

also, i would have thought that the empathogenic properties of oxy would have brought him to the centre or beyond, but i guess not. maybe he should have used a potentiator like atarax or soma with it or followed it with a small dose of speed.

mr franken, however, is a hack.

Franken is pretty intelligent, but he seems to struggle with populist themes in that he grasps onto them w/o quite fully understanding them at first. He also seems to be in a transitional phase between comedy & politics too. However, he makes good points & it wouldn't be long before he mastered the political mask if he hasn't already during the campaign. Besides, someone has to replace Sonny Bono.

You know, if I wanted to steal an election where there were nearly 3 million votes and the difference was several hundred, I'd squirrel away more than 32 ballots. But that's just me - I did kind of well at math in school.
