Blue Chalk Club finally closed, is out of business.

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

I haven't been out that way in some time. Is that huge building still sitting vacant?

I heard awhile back they were going to be doing all different types of music, but see mainly 'jjo hard rock type and tried 'n true tribute and cover bands booked so far.

I wish them luck and I will say Dave Cobb has a kick-ass lighting system.

I gave up on the Club T. a long time ago and the far west side/Middleton could probably use a legitimate music venue.

is Scatz just another version of The Outer Limits/The Warehouse?

No- from what I can understand, it is a club that is hosting music, and said music is somehow booked by Rick Driese, the guy behind The Attic Ballroom / The Warehouse / Badger Music Theater. Not sure how that math works, but it appears to be the case.

Wouldn't that be Schatz? I've never heard of any of the bands playing there. The west-side sometimes feels like a world away.

Good luck to the new/old venue.

Scat.
Now if they could only book one of the various bands across the US who call themselves the Cleveland Steamer(s), it would be complete.

I had lunch there today. The food was good — typical bar/sports bar fare. Friendly wait staff and the owner came by a few times.

It will be interesting to see how packed that joint gets when they book the likes of Super Tuesday. The capacity limit seems pretty small.

They did overdo it on the number of TVs. It seems like they could've put that money to better use.

I'm completely confident the place will be a good time. Will be a good venue and will book my band repeatedly (that's always a plus) my only concern is the overhead in that location. They will do well with the bigger name local cover bands although I now Rick and his intent will also be to lure in some touring acts and have lots of local original artists as well. Should be the best thing on the west side but we'll see how long it lasts in this economy.

Ricky may want to temper his taste for harder metal when he's booking bands as well.

And the owners would be doing themselves a favor by not letting Rick oversee Scatz' myspace page. His spelling and grammar aren't what you'd call, stellar.
