It's okay. She should have been around in the 80's, she would have made a killing off her one hit wonder. At least she's easy on the eyes.

Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" indeed reminds me of an '80s track that also sparked controversy: George Michael's "I Want Your Sex." And likewise, 20 years from now the "I Kissed a Girl" controversy will be all but forgotten, and Katy Perry will be arrested for hot tea room action.

That song reminds me of an older song, too. It was called "I Kissed a Girl."

She's making a bigger killing off it now. She's already embedded in the "biz" doing time in back up work for bigger names. Unless she does something stupid, she ain't goin nowhere.

I'd kiss her.

"Double digital single nods went to Capitol artist Katy Perry for two songs on her debut album One of the Boys. ‘Hot N Cold’ reached Platinum prominence and ‘I Kissed A Girl’ went Gold, Platinum and 2x Platinum to denote more than two million downloads of Perry’s popular kiss and tell tale."

Salacious PR flackspeak? Yup. Stoopid? You betcha. (But check the numbers).

I love Mr. Burns and his delightfully orthogonal way of thinking; Michaels is an awfully good pop music analogy on that level.

But I think the more prosaic analogy that I made earlier is more apt: we're looking at the first real successor to Madonna. This is exactly how it felt during the first Madonna campaign on the strength of her debut; clearly aided by Benitez/Martin, we're looking at a singer/songwriter whose knowledge of when to ask for help is matched by her own awareness of the further goal, pop success.

I urge anyone only familiar with the major singles (of which there have been three) to click this link:

I was wrong about *which* direction she might take to totally flip the disc, but this is proof she can do pretty much whatever she wants.

Didja know she is the child of two pastors?

Just got the new Live Lounge album... Very disappointed that this wasn't on it. Still... It had Pendulum's cover of Violet Hill on it so it's still pretty good.

Yea, she's gonna have to work on that. It must not be easy to sound good wearing stilettos and a corset while jumping around on stage. Other performers would have lip synced.

Too bad she didn't have that machine that helps her sing handy.

She sounds better than I would wearing that outfit and shoes singing live. I wouldn't lip sync either. I wish I looked that good dressed up in my cors...uh, whoops, nevermind.

I don't get the appeal though. Of the music, I mean. The other part, yes, but the music, no.

I wasn't impressed with her grammy performance, other than the fact she is surrounded by hot girls in frilly bloomers.

She needs to work on her spontaneous harmonics and it does seem that she falls flat just a little more than a "best new artist" should.

I wonder if her studio workings may have been tweeked just a tad too much to allow her to pull off a decent live show. So far, I haven't seen anything live I really liked.

I bought her album shortly after the Warped Tour and like it a lot.

So, I've listened to her album a few times, and I have to say, I'm not impressed. There are about 2-3 decent songs on it, and the rest of it is absolute garbage. At least she's hot!
