Tonight's gonna be so cold, I might break out the good stuff. Nowhere to go, nothin' to do, right?

Yeah, but that's not a winter drink, per se. Scotch, neat is always apropos, whether summer or winter, eastern or western hemishperes, southern or northern hemispheres, pre-prandial or post-prandial, pre-coital or post-coital ...

Scotch neat is rarely wrong. But is it ideal?

Tonight I'm having a Central Waters' Bourbon-Barrel Stout while listening to Neil Young (Live at Canterbury House 1968). It fits.

I don't really crave Scotch until the winter for some reason. It warms me up. Kinda like how a gin and tonic can be refreshing on a hot summer night.

And this whole scotch needs to be neat thing is totally personal preference. I used to subscribe to that method, then I went to a few tastings and learned that a little drop of water or even some ice brings out the flavors of certain whiskies. Now I use rocks more often than not.

It doesn't necessarily make scotch more palatable in the winter months though.

Sorry to interrupt the undiluted hard liquor-fest with a big wussy liqueur, but Voyant Chai liqueur is pretty tasty this time of year.

Coor's Light. When the mountains turn blue, it's cold enough to drink.

I didn't want to post until I could confirm it's cold weather goodness, but having just come from Last Band Standing, I can say without reservation that Rumplemintz warms the body and fogs the glasses. Yummy.

Good god, you were there too? Should have given some clues for introduction purposes.

It's not like I was in hiding or anything...
I'm not Walter and I certainly didn't steal Aunt Goodness'es's' guitar, if you're insinuating I have something to hide (although I do have an AG guitar in my basement... funny story, that...)

Anyway, for future reference, I'm Semitic, gray, and holding a Sierra Nevada.
