What's your 2010 travel plans?

We want to hear about your adventures, be they from Istanbul, Ixtapa or Ixonia. And hey, you might even find someone you can sell your extra Euros to.

What's your 2010 travel plans?

Postby Henry Vilas » Thu Jan 07, 2010 8:19 pm

Here are mine. Ms Vilas and I will be visting my dad and stepmom in Arizona mid April for a short week. Probably do something over the summer, but only for a few days. Maybe Door County. Next, Vegas for the Badger game over the Labor Day weekend. Then back to Arizona in late December for my dad's 90th birthday. Nothing overseas this year, but there is always 2011.

Booked: Palm Springs in mid-March for warmth, Boulder in early May for a wedding.

Early planning stage: San Francisco sometime in the summer.

Kicking around ideas for Europe (France and northern Italy, maybe), but not sure if yet if we can afford it.

Sorry there's no St. Martin in your immediate future, Henry; I know how much you love it. (One of these years my wife and I will book a trip, and I'll probably ask to pick your brain for dining and sightseeing ideas.)

Shaving off my beard and going down to FL the day after the Midwest Beat/Eric and the Happy Thoughts/Motorz show at the CCB in February. Come for the music and get a whisker rub in the bargain before I go.

Ears ringing roadtrip. Tan line upon return.

Git'm!

Personally, I am in the midst of setting up a trip to LA at the end of the month to visit a, uh, special lady friend. Lotta ins, lotta outs...

Any recommendations for winery tours in the area? Would like to spend a day checking out the scene if possible.

Booked! My father and I are taking the City of New Orleans down to NOLA at the end of the month. We're planning on spending a few days soaking up the culture/getting shitfaced, then heading over to visit the relatives over near Biloxi. We're bringing the clubs too, and hope to get in a couple days of golf.

Looking like Maui somewhere mid-summer for a friend's wedding.

All-inclusive on the 7 mile beach, Negril, Jamaica for 8 days in February. Thinking about visiting Austin TX in mid-summer, with an eye toward some day escaping WI winters forever. First have to see just how hot summer there really is....fortunately we like heat.

Wilderness hiking in the U.P. in late August. That's pretty much it for 10.

Northern Idaho, Seattle, and Vancouver.

Also hoping Peru, but will have someone wheelchair bound in the group so have to find out how accessible it is. Anybody been there?

This year, for the first time in my life, that's starting to feel like an imperative.

Perhaps I've begun feeling the effects of middle age.

Definite plans: South Korea in June; Outer Banks, NC in July; Boston and DC at least once to visit family.

Maybe: Sanibel Island and the Keys for Sox Spring Training and beach in March.

Depending on job market might go to Austin, TX. I've never been so I hope I get an interview at the very least.

Hee hee, by Sunday night, the family and I will be at Cinnamon Bay Campground, Virgin Islands National Park for ten days. It is taking my all not to gush in this post. Daytime high temps will be in the mid-eighties. It's been a few years since we've been there, and the youngest two have never experienced the ocean before. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.

It's been a little over a year since I visited St. Martin. Must go back soon.

I'll try to answer any future questions. In the meanwhile, this travel discussion forum has a lot of veteran St. Martin vacationers who contribute.

Here is a great interactive map of the island.

Better check status after that Nor'easter.
