What is linksys wifi and why can I pick it up for free?

linksys is the default name for a wifi access point (made by Linksys/Cisco) that somebody who is technically challenged has set up close enough to you for you to pick up on their broadcast signal. Probably a neighbor, since Linksys is generally regarded as being consumer level hardware.
I wouldn't recommend using it - it is considered theft in some places and certainly wouldn't endear you to your neighbor.
That said, if they left it at all the default settings, they are not technical enough to ever find out that you are leeching their bandwidth.

Seriously, if you're going to set up a wifi access point, the least you can do is change the name to something more interesting than the default.
