I am. Although sometimes I question why.

I enjoy good hockey games. I like the moguls and the downhill.

However, I'm tired of Bob Costas. And Chris Collinsworth has no business even being in Vancouver. And I don't need to see another Lindsey Vonn interview for the rest of my life. And Bode Miller is still a dick. And snowboard cross or whatever it's called is kind of a joke.

I lied. I did watch the opening ceremonies while pre-drinking before a twice yearly guys night out boot drinking excursion. Considering the atmosphere it mostly turned into a wise crack session.

One of the guys with whom I'd gone to last Friday's hockey game really, really wanted to see the opening ceremonies while we were having our customary post-game drink. He got a bartender to change the channel, so I saw some parts of the torch lighting. I wasn't paying close enough attention to catch whatever snafu happened.

Other that that I've seen nothing to date. I did read about the US hockey team's win over Switzerland over lunch, but my emotional investment in their success is low. I'm more interested in the Olympic performance of various NHL players as opposed to their respective national teams.

That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

You mean Anne Murray?

I mean, where the hell was Brian Adams? Or Geddy Lee?

Which would you rather snowboard to - "Subdivisions?" Or frickin' "Snowbird?"

Maybe they should just change their country's name to 'Blandada.'

He was there singing a duet with Nelly Furtado. It was craptastic. There was also a part dedicated to New Foundland. If you know anything at all about Newfies you can guess how that was.

I've been watching this Winter Games moreso than previous outings. The opening ceremony's cultural performance was really great, and up until the erection issue it was pretty flawless. Then it all went downhill, and pretty much by design. Putting Gretzky into the back of a truck to go light the "real" cauldron was lame.

The Games are lucky that the weather in Vancouver (Couver Town, as some have taken to calling it) isn't even worse than it has been. The moguls were fun, and I don't really have a problem with snowboard cross and the "X-lympics" events. It's the changing landscape of the winter sports people engage in. That's the balance of the Olympics: sports for the athlete-specialist vs. sports for the everyday-human.

Shaun White was clearly superior to the other snowboarders tonight in the halfpipe. It was pretty impressive, even if the vagaries of all the moves don't really register in my frontal cortex.

And I have to say, I've actually started to both understand and enjoy curling.

The extent of my involvement with this year's WO has been annoyance when I tried to DVR SNL. Haven't seen any of the Games, don't plan to. When do they end?

Waitaminute, you do pre-drinking before doing boots? That's fucken hardcore.

I just hope you didn't drive to and from or you'd have the potential material for a whiny post a la Cortez.
