Jacs on Monroe

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

Jacs on Monroe

Just wanted to say that I went to Jacs on Monroe and my BF and I agreed that it was bland. The frites were very good though--$4 for an absolutely enormous portion and they tasted great. As for the rest of it...meh. Won't be going back. Also never had our water re-filled during our meal.

I love that joint. Chicken Francaise. Super yummy. Really great fish fry too.

I particularly like the Porto Bello sandwich, with frites. They have a nice beer selection too.

It'd be nice if their website ever worked. I seem to recall a sandwich that was all right there, but others have stunk.

Mr and Mrs Kat and one of the kittens ate there for the first time Saturday night, and it was better than expected, although the $11 cheeseburger was significantly overpriced, amazing fries notwithstanding. In addition to the cheeseburger, we had a salad and a flatbread pizza. Nothing too adventurous, but a sampling of at least some of their fare. I'm not sure I'd make it a destination, but we were in the area and it was on the way to Trader Joe's. I know, we live big on Sat nights, right?

Here's my review on Yelp

I gotta say that the tofu sandwich was the blandest thing imaginable. Block of firm tofu on bread.

Ate there last night with a friend- we split the pear, arugula, and walnut flatbread and each had a bowl of the corn chowder. The flatbread was decent, and the soup was ok but not really anything special. Overall I thought it was overpriced and the service was pretty bad. We were there for at least 10-15 min before anyone even brought us water, and then after the waitress brought our food, she never checked back with us. We were done eating for probably 45 minutes (at least) before she reappeared to bring us our check. I don't think I will be going there again.
