I love seeing someone smoke on a bicycle. It's rare, like seeing
a snipe, but so totally contradictory it always cracks me up. Like
biking is this health and environment thing, and smoking is so not.
The smokers I see on bikes are usually pulling into or out of tavern parking lots.
I smoked when I lived in Beloit and rode my bike all over. It was usually as fast as the car because I could cut through yards, ignore traffic signals and park anywhere, and I could be as plastered as I wanted to get and still hop on that sucker and go home. Smoking a cigarette. And I was fine.
Well... there was that one time I woke up in the front yard ten feet from the street, with my bike between my legs and all those people driving by on their way to church and me looking like I had just crawled out from under the bridge, but that was just the one time.
But I didn't ride the bike for my health. It was just cheap transport and a way to get around the DUI laws.
