Glitch or Censorship?

Postby alexinmadison » Fri Aug 27, 2010 4:18 pm

I posted a comment on this article regarding Ken Golden's accusations of bullying by Mayor Dave:

http://www.thedailypage.com/isthmus/art ... icle=30308

My comment was one "against" Mr Golden, citing my opinion of his choice to run a negative mayoral campaign.

When I posted it, I did as I always do and I checked to ensure that it had posted successfully. It had.

Interestingly, my post is now gone. However, Brenda Konkel's post in support of Mr Golden is there - and the only comment at the moment.

I've written to TDP's webmaster, The Isthmus's editor, the author of the article, and I even @replied the Daily Page's twitter account. But...so far... no response.

So, what do you all think? Glitch in the system or censorship of my negative comment about Mr Golden??

Did you sign up to comment using your real name as the commenting rules specify you have to do?

Well, there's my answer! Thank you. No...I did not use my real name - never do. I use the handle that I use for all social media.

Seems a shame that I'm not allowed to make a relevant and civil comment unless I tell the entire world my real name. There are only two people in the US with my name and we're related... So much for privacy, huh?

I only post here for that reason, alexin(etc). I don't think it's inferior to using the other part of the Daily Page's comment area. Have at it.

The rules for commenting are clearly stated. This section of Forum is also clearly posted as a way to anonymously comment on stories.

What I find interesting are the standards for "privacy." You have at least a twitter account and a blog, are active on this board and want to comment negatively on a community figure, yet you seek privacy.

Those seem at odds to me.

If it bothers anyone that they can't comment on the various articles because they don't want to use actual name, then simply stay away from that part of TDP and instead only read The Forum. That way you won't be as frustrated about the situation when you can't respond. Most of the important stuff ends up here anyways.
