Pug Mahones spot re-opening

Postby Mateo0213 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 11:52 pm

First post but read all the time.

I live close to the spot where Pug Mahones used to be and I just noticed that somebody else owns the place now and is going open another bar there. I searched online but can't find anything. Anyone know about this?

When I first moved into the areathe place seemed legit. I would stop over on my way home for a drink or 2 but as time went on it just got worse and worse. I'm hoping the new owners do something cool with the place and turn it around from what it was.

We are going to completely gut the place, add a second floor, and turn it into a Gentlemen's Club.

I'm actually hoping they turn it back into what it was. Back when it was Jan's (and the early days of JT's tenure), it was a fun place.

Looks like it's going to be called the Baldwin Bistro and Pub.

From the above link:

Sconnie Bar and Retro Tavern, two controversial alcohol license requests, were both referred for the third time to a future ALRC meeting.

A liquor license request for a drinking establishment called Sconnie Bar should be rejected out of hand.

Quite. And I'm not even from Wisconsin.

WTF is wrong with these people?

Nobody will drink in a bar with a name like that. Nobody we want to drink with, anyway.

The real one, the Wisco, is less than a mile away. I doubt they're worrying about losing business to the Sconnie.

The proposed Sconnie bar is down by campus a couple of miles from the Willy/WIsco, the approval for their license was tabled until the next meeting. The license for the Baldwin Bistro & Pub in the location of the former Pug Mahones was approved.
