Random thoughts

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Random thoughts

My first one: It's boring here lately.

Just realized Woodman's has very good donuts.

There's too much talk about banning people from here. Just ignore them. (like most people do me)

Top-shelf vodka is a bunch of crap.

2-flat next to BP gas on Atwood. 2nd floor resident. You need to change your "word of the day" more often.

Out of 100 men poled, every one of them said it hurt.

Unless you're running your Phillips through a Brita filter three or four times, I take issue with this.

I can't actually argue with you there. The bottom shelf can be a little rough. I've done multiple taste tests with friends and Smirnoff and Skyy are almost always the top pick. Common last pick....Grey Goose.

I heard of very similar results in other blind taste tests. Smirnoff always seems to be the best for the money. People seem to prefer ordering the goose, but very seldom prefer the taste when compared to others.

It's not necessarily the taste that makes top shelf vodka "top shelf"; rather, it's the after-effects (or lack thereof) that make it the go-to version of tater juice:)

Vodka has taste? I suppose a little more than Everclear grain.

Marketing and presentation. The bottle looks attractively upscale, and it's expensive, so people assume it's high quality.

I was going to include some other random thoughts, but they all ended up being morose and cynical. Carry on.

Anyone ever try the Crystal Head? They seem to going for a specific flavor, as opposed to the more traditional "less taste" approach for vodka. I picked up a bottle when Aykroyd was in town signing bottles. I'm not a vodka drinker, but it seemed "unique". Thoughts?

Would that make it taste like charcoal-infused vodka?
Dude!

{random} I think fisti is right: the main reason Jay Cutler gets so much flack is because of his sourpuss mug

And you're afraid you won't fit in?

Just back from Woodman's. I picked up 2 donuts, some Smirnoff, and a 6 of Tommy's Porter in case the vodka doesn't take.

I've been working on my geography. http://www.lizardpoint.com/fun/geoquiz/afrquiz.html
I've got Africa down! Benin, Eritrea, THE GAMBIA, no problem! The middle east and all the Stans are proving a little tougher.

Vodka and donuts sound like a pretty normal dinner.

I just flunked the Africa quiz -- Republic of Congo is not the same thing as Democratic Republic of Congo? Whoa.

Memorizing the Stans sounds close to impossible. I'm still trying to keep track of all those little countries in central America between Mexico and Panama.

Which ones? Cake type? Powdered Sugar Cake? Glazed?

I admit I'm a regular at the cheese aisle (my fave) and the bread stands that separate the meat from baked goods (East Side).

Donuts have not been on the radar at the grocery. They are now. Next visit. But I'll want to get the top-tier recommendation.

They're in the rear corner at the far end of the meat isle. Self-serve cases. Seems to empty out by mid-afternoon, earlier on the weekends. I like the bismarks (chocolate w/ white cream center) and the glazed cake donuts (sour cream maybe?).

Ate at Flemings last night for restaurant week. Never been there before. It was excellent.

I really need to get out to a bar. Then I need to watch a comedy that will make me laugh until tears run down my cheeks and my sides ache. I keep putting it off for "important things", always tomorrow.
