fire trucks last night?

fire trucks last night?

Postby tomr » Mon Mar 21, 2011 11:30 am

Last night around 9 there was a huge line of fire trucks and emergency vehicles that tore down E. Washington towards downtown. I even went so far as to turn on the local news but there wasn't a peep about anything big. So what happened - anybody see anything, a UFO landing, Godzilla, public intoxication?

That was really freaky. More sirens than I've ever heard all going at the same time. It sounded like all the fire trucks in town were going to the same call and I started to panic, thinking something catastrophic happened. They seemed to be moving through downtown and going west but when I went outside to check it out I couldn't get a visual. I checked the news and social media and couldn't find anything about it.

The cops & fire trucks were escorting the Badger Women's Hockey team home. I understand the hometown pride but I do wonder why there was no easy-to-find announcement about it. I was worried about it freaking out my near E. Wash grandma.

Seriously? I can't tell if that's a joke. I hope it is, cuz that's a lot of drivers dodging out of the way, rubbenecking, or other less-than-sensible behaviors. Personally, I got out my anti-zombie survival kit.

Instances like that should be lights only, or random horn honking - not full sirens. People get worried.

Not a joke. The ladies from the team were tweeting about it en route.

Party foul. No "end of the world" sirens next time, please.

I heard the commotion too and was trying to find a mention of it in the news. From the sound of things, I would have thought the governor's mansion was on fire or something. But a blaring fire truck brigade at 9pm on a Sunday night seems a little out of proportion for a hockey team motorcade. Why not just have a victory parade the next day?
