Heritage Bakery and Cafe

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

Heritage Bakery and Cafe

AP has his first impressions posted at AV Club Madison; here are mine.

The breakfast sandwich (croissant, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar) is very made-to-order, to the point of being too hot and too loose. But the ingredients are solid even if the composition is a little rough.

Heritage's bakery case is a panoply of pastries and breads; I dare say that their morning bun might even please the discriminating taste and taxonomy of our buddy kulgar.

I wasn't a Carl's Cakes patron, but I suspect they didn't do a whole lot to change the interior of the space--and they do bake cakes, as well.

The coffee needs to be stronger. Still, I'll be happy to stop here rather than hoofing it more out of my way for a commute coffee/bakery stop.

Had lunch there recently with a friend, entrees and desserts were excellent. The salad, while fresh, was overdressed. I'd recommend it.

I hope they are able to dress the place up a little bit, it is rather drab.

The place was gutted after Carl's departure, it was left as a white box space. Everything but the bathroom fixtures is newly installed.

Sounds like a few ladies I've known.

Another one of Bookie's unintentional literary gems.

Ned, did TBP steal your lunch money in grade school or something? You're almost as obsessed with trashing his food reviews as you were with Clinton's penis. Almost.

Seriously? The Bookie-related barbs practically write themselves. I peek at each new review as one would peek around a corner after hearing a loud crash.

You know, you don't call home as often as you used to.

Heritage Bakery and Cafe: Challenge by TBP

Postby kulgar » Thu Apr 21, 2011 10:32 am

TBP, I take that comment on the morning bun as a challenge. But given that the restraining order is still in place, I can't go east of the Yahara River. And with Willy St now one lane westbound, not sure I can even bribe someone to retrieve one for me.

As soon as I get this damn bracelet off, lose enough weight to get back into my bikini, I'll leave my iPhone at home and make the pilgrimage.
