MOREL mushrooms

Grocery stores, recipes, cook books, CSAs, farmers' markets, organic, local, processed, corporate. It's a smorgabord!

Has anyone found any this this year? The season seems really late. I know people who have been out hunting and they've all come back empty handed.

Jenny Market has had morels in the spring since we moved to this neighborhood ten years ago. Sometimes a lot, sometimes only a for a day or two.

This year there's been nothing.

I've seen morel ads in Craigslist but all of them are some variation of "I'm going morel hunting today/tomorrow and I'm taking orders." Which I find rather amusing. :-)

Watch out for those evil ticks.

I'd bet the morels are popping after yesterday's warmth. We could use a bit of rain, though.

That's what I'm thinking. The old timer's saying is, "after the first light rain when the leaves are as big as a mouse's ear."

Ain't been much rain since it got warm. And the leaves have gotten a little bigger than a mouse ear.

I went to the Monona FM yesterday on the off-chance that I might find some. Alas, none to be found. I'll have to keep looking because I have a monster craving for morels!

With the light rain today and the warmer temps tomorrow, Tuesday might be the day.

My neighbor found some morels this morning. Tomorrow I will see if I can be as lucky in my woods.
