Holy crap, Badgers snag top tier QB

I never thought that the Badgers would luck upon such an excellent QB in exactly the year they desperately needed one. It's not the Badger way to have a QB who can throw all over the field, too good to be true.

Whatever signing bonus required to close the deal was money well spent.

Based only on his TV interview, he seems pretty intelligent, which along with his experience, should help him pick up an offense more quickly.

No kidding. The conventional wisdom was that this year's team would go as far as the quarterback could take them. Up until today, I was looking forward to the season with a lot of trepidation.

And, he graduated from college in 3 years, which suggests he will be able to learn the offense.

Look at the arm muscle on that kid. The Badger QB's going back 20 years, maybe with the exception of Stocko, have looked like cross country runners still finding their way through puberty.

How quickly we forget Mike Samuel.

I'm giddy with excitement. If the Badgers can generate a pass rush, and keep the linebackers healthy for a change, it's going to be a very successful year. Vegas moved their BCS title odds from 35-1 to 20-1 after Wilson's announcement. That talk is a little premature, but Wisconsin should certainly be in the mix for the Big Ten Championship, at the least.

Actually it was Samuels I was thinking of, not Stocko. My mind is slipping.

Quarterback O'Brien To Play For Badgers

Former University of Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien has committed to coming to the University of Wisconsin next fall, according to a UW news release.

The news release, which was issued on Wednesday morning, said that Badgers football coach Bret Bielema said that O'Brien would be coming to Madison and attend graduate school at Wisconsin.

O'Brien started 17 games at Maryland during the past two seasons. He earned FWAA Freshman All-America honors in 2010 after throwing for 2,438 yards and 22 touchdowns in 10 starts. He was also named ACC Rookie of the Year, according to the news release.

More from uwbadgers.com.

O'Brien started the first five games of the season and also started against Virginia and Notre Dame but suffered a season-ending injury (fractured left arm) against ND on Nov. 12.

I assume his arm has completely healed (and I don't think he is left handed).
